Coaching Philosophy
Here at The First Tee of San Francisco we believe in having a diverse, multi-cultural staff of different backgrounds and ages. We have attempted to create a staff that mirrors the diversity and attitudes that are San Francisco. This is a critical component of our success as a youth development agency.

Children learn through exposure and experience. We feel it is important for them to see and hear our message being delivered from people of all ages and from all backgrounds. As you read a little about our coaches, please note we have tried to include younger, role models for the kids to identify with as well as older, more experienced individuals to help our participants learn the game of golf.

All our coaches goes through a certification process that is developed by The First Tee National Office (www.thefirsttee.org/coaching) The Program Director and the Assistant Director attend national seminars and are responsible for delivering this information down to the local level.

While some of our instructors are PGA and LPGA golf professionals, you will find that not all are full time golf professionals. As a youth development program first and foremost, it is of equal importance to attract people who have varied and vast experience teaching children as well as a keen ability to play golf.

We think our instructors are a great group. Many of them have other jobs and spend tireless hours helping out at The First Tee. We are grateful for their dedication and commitment to helping our participants become better golfers and better people.
